This Place: Mothers, Fathers, and Home, 2025 - Present

“This Place: Mothers, Fathers, and Home" explores the profound emotional landscape of relocating to the Midwest, utilizing expressive knife painting and portraiture to capture a deep connection to the region's agricultural roots. Diverging from strict realism, the artist highlights the sweeping prairies and the symbolic isolation of a distant farmhouse, centering the series on a strong matriarch who bridges the sanctuary of the home with the natural world. While the artwork is deeply immersed in the quiet isolation and agrarian lifestyle of the farmlands, it exists in striking contrast to the proximity of the vast Great Lake Michigan and the bustling metropolitan energy of nearby Chicago. This underlying dichotomy highlights a complex tension between the serene, grounded reality of rural living and the vibrant, fast-paced city life just beyond the horizon.
